Vision

The vision of the Sister Emmanuel Hospital, in keeping with its Catholic mission, is to facilitate the long-term needs of the Miami community. This hospital will expand Mercy’s health system by incorporating long-term hospital care services into a broader continuum of care. Recognizing the challenges of operating Florida’s first hospital-within-a-hospital, the facility will demonstrate leadership and set a clinical standard for the provision of long-term hospital services dedicated to our community.

Mission

In witness to Jesus’ healing mission, the Sister Emmanuel Hospital provides long-term acute care services for those with complex medical conditions. As a ministry of the Roman Catholic Church and affiliated with HCA, the hospital attests to the value of human life through recognition of the transcendent meaning of suffering and death, and support of the patient and family during times of sickness and incapacity by combining professional excellence with a compassionate concern for the whole person. Adopting the spirit of the Sisters of St. Joseph, the Sister Emmanuel Hospital seeks to understand and respond to the needs of the local community by collaborating with others who share a common mission, vision and core values. With attention to fiscal responsibility, quality services are made available and accessible to those who need them.

Foundations Book Cover

The Sister Emmanuel Hospital (SEH) team is dedicated to our community, which includes our workforce and those whom we serve. Each member of our team is highly valued, and is vital to the SEH family.

Our professional team is focused on a strong potential for success to achieve a good balance between life and work, professional growth, and personal fulfillment. By having a team focused on our core values, we work together to achieve our personal and professional goals as a united yet diversified team. While we are all unique individuals, we come together with a common purpose to meet the needs of those who require long term medical care.

Our team is committed to professional development, continuous education, and a dedication to excellence. We are focused on using our resources wisely, including using advanced technology, equipment and the best supplies that we can purchase to meet patient needs. We are committed to transparency to better serve our patients and our community in a manner worthy of our tradition. Our respect for each other – regardless of our individual differences or similarities – comes together to create a diverse team focused on our common goals and shared values. Our Foundations Book allows us to focus on these core values to better enable us to create the ‘environment of care’ that has served many for the last seven years.

This is based on our traditional heritage of the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Augustine as well as our core values. Throughout our surroundings we seek to foster an environment that provides clinical care, compassion, and hospitality to our guests and their visitors.
